Emmanuel Sanon- History of a legend soccer player

Among the many contributions of Emmanuel Sanon, “said Manno” in progress, or the launch of the Haitian football on the national and international scene, journalists, and sports columnists, often tend to classify the goal against the national selection Italy at the top of his football career. His vision, his philosophy of Haitian football transcends the impact of goal against Italy in 1974.

Emmanuel Sanon was, by nature, a man more concerned with the “disorganization” of Haitian football and that could help to understand, much better than his sporting achievements. His work in this area, as elsewhere, was marked with the seal of his repeated dialogues with young Haitian athletes, his stance for deployment at the national level (not limited to Port-au-Prince), the sport International in Haiti: a vision he had once described as “the supreme goal.”

Emmanuel Sanon, born in Port-au-Prince June 25, 1951, and is still in the memory of one of Haiti’s most brilliant players that Haitian national team known. It will be said Emmanuel Sanon was a go-getter, with a capital F, both in football and in life. His humanity, his philosophy of life, wants to win, its incomparable speed, exceptional athleticism and his positional sense made him one of the most formidable of Haitian football attackers: he scored 47 goals between other for the Haitian national team. Besides his rare qualities of coach, his literary ambitions have also attracted the attention of the Haitian public.

Already a primary school Fabre Geffrard his clever way, exercised and gifted to score goals, caught the attention of many. The same prowess and predispositions were assigned to the High School and College Firmin Petion-ville, where he continued his secondary education. Emmanuel Sanon has always been a pleasure to grant credits his academic success to his mother who always reminded him of the importance of a good education.

Manno has been very successful throughout his football career in Haiti. At the age of 13, he won the Fourth Division championship with Don Bosco Petionville Djebels the father. From 1967 to 1970 he was a school champion twice with the Lycée Pétion-Ville.

Emmanuel Sanon played in the first division with Don Bosco Cup Pradel at the age of 16 years. Before the age of 20, including players like Johnny Paul, Wilfrid Louis, Roosevelt, and Guy Larosilière Clarel Auguste, he was champion with Don Bosco.

During the tournament CONCACAF qualifying for the 1974 World Cup it is organized to serious problems for opposing defenses. Qualified as champion CONCAF he represented Haiti in Germany with his teammates, the most glorious time Francillon Eddy Antoine, Pungent, Pierre Bayonne, Phillipe Vorbe, Guy Saint-Vil, Roger Saint-Vil Jean Joseph, Tom Thumb, Pelao, Claude Barthelemy, Wilner Nazaire, Fito Plantin, players like Leandres, Pelao etc..

The two goals against Italy and Argentina have won the honor of being listed in golden letters in the annals of scorers in the World Cup among geniuses football like Pele, Kempes, Di Stefano Gerd Muller, Maradona, Zidane, Paolo Rossi, Ronaldo, etc.. In interviews granted to the national and international press, the unforgettable bodybuilder Haitian preferred the goal he scored in 1979 against Standard Liege (while playing in training Berschoot Antwerp, Belgium ) to the historic goal, beautiful and acclaimed against Italy Zoff.

Haiti and the Haitian public press have in 1974 Manno praised as “the best Haitian Athlete of the Century.” When he did not challenge this proclamation too laudatory, however, he pointed out to reporters who questioned him on this point that all its merits are attached to the leading players of his admiration: Pele, Philippe Vorbe, Eusebio, Tom thumb, Juan Lozano, Chadlin Delight, Cruyff, Bayonne, Beckenbauer and Michel Blain.

At the memorial held last November in honor of Father Diebels, Manno was awarded the title of the most talented scorer in the history of the Haitian football Chadin. This way of thinking, acting, reflecting the respect, humility and team spirit that marked the glorious career of Emmanuel Sanon.

He died in Orlando on a Thursday morning, February 21, 2008. His sports career remain immortalized in this picture: His meteoric and solid feel, safe and elegant on the ball that pierced the net Zoff!
